Meet Shanna
Hi, I’m Shanna Hinrichs.
My story in community birth began over 20 years ago when I started supporting families as a doula and lactation consultant—work that eventually led me to midwifery. I’ve felt called to help women bring their babies earthside since I was a little girl. I didn’t know what that calling would look like at the time, but everything became clear when I witnessed the intimate and sacred home birth of a dear friend. That experience shaped my path and sparked a deep desire to walk with families through one of the most powerful and vulnerable seasons of their lives.
I’m deeply fulfilled by caring for clients as their families grow. Attending births has strengthened my trust—again and again—in women’s bodies and their incredible ability to transform, heal, and bring forth life. I hold the responsibility of midwifery with great respect, and I never take for granted the privilege of supporting families in a way that honors their values, goals, and informed decisions.

I believe education and informed decision making are the foundations of empowered decision-making in pregnancy and birth. That passion has led me to serve on the boards of cesarean awareness organizations, helping provide evidence-based information so families can make the best choices for their current pregnancy. I’m also a strong advocate for Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC) when it is the safest and most appropriate option.
I was born and raised in Garland and have had the privilege of living in several different states along the way. I’m married and the mother of nine children—each with their own unique birth and breastfeeding story. Because I’ve experienced many different kinds of pregnancies, births, and postpartum journeys myself, I bring both professional expertise and real-life understanding to the families I serve.
When I’m not in the birth world, you’ll usually find me spending time with my husband, our four school-age kids at home, and our animals—our dog, cats, and a very lively flock of chickens. I love being outdoors, eating good food, reading lots of books, and making our home in Rowlett as peaceful as a full house can be.
I would love the opportunity to talk with you and see if I’m the right midwife for you and your family. And if we decide I’m not the best fit, I’m always happy to help you find the care provider you deserve as you walk through this beautiful journey.
